“We contracted with Ida to help us redecorate our shore house. The project consisted of new flooring everywhere but bedrooms, new living room furniture and lighting, kitchen and bathroom face-lifts, all new window treatments, and completely repainting the interior. She took time and asked great questions in order to understand our aesthetic. She listened to our needs, particularly with regard to budget and timeframe. “I knew my living space needed a refresh. The big challenges to me were my complete inability to envision it, small space and not much light. I had been to a couple of home shows in the year or two leading up to it. Two different times the most memorable were rooms designed by Ida McCausland. A lot of time passed between the home shows and my plan to redecorate but fortunately I still had Ida’s business card. I wasn’t sure she would take my project because it was so small but I was thrilled when she agreed. What a transformation! Before we even picked new furniture it was like a new house when we refinished the floors, removed built in book shelves and lightened the wall colors. I never knew it could feel so much bigger and brighter.
I was always in a rush and two steps ahead of myself but Ida was great at reigning me in. Let’s do this first, let’s wait for that next. It felt like a lifetime but it really took the exact amount of time she said it would. And every time she said to wait she was right. She made it so easy to make decisions. It didn’t take long for her to get a sense of things I liked. We’d flip through fabrics tagging the ones I liked and easily narrowing down from that. Same for rugs, lamps, tables, window treatments, artwork – everything! My dark little space was transformed into a bright and beautiful place to live and share with friends and family.
My renovation was in 2014. In 2017, I made a decision to move. I showed my house furnished and thanks to Ida’s makeover, the first person to see it made an offer the 2nd day it was on the market!
As hard as it was to believe, the living room and dining room look even more spectacular in the new house which is considerably larger.

About Me
Ida McCausland
From my earliest recollections, I have always been interested in colors, fabrics, fashion, and design. In my teens, I designed and made clothing for family, my friends, and myself (including my wedding dress), and knew I wanted to be a professional designer.
After starting Drexel University as a Fashion Design major, my interest and focus shifted to Interior Design. Following graduation, I started my own design firm, which is primarily focused on residential interior design.
Over the course of over thirty years in professional Interior Design, in addition to scores of residential projects, I have also provided design services to a number of corporate and non-profit organizations.
I have worked with several clients, providing consultation and design services to them on several residences as well as their vacation homes.
While many designers may approach a project with the intention of making it reflect their own tastes and style, my philosophy is to learn; beginning with the initial consultation, what the client would want at the end of the project. I firmly believe that by understanding what the client wants, the end result is a very high level of client satisfaction.
And at the end of the day, that’s what counts.
